What it means to you.

1 Dec is World AIDS Day.

But exactly what it means to you?

As gays, we are all vulnerable to HIV and AIDS, not to say the straight people don't get it, but as men who have sex with men, this is something and should be something very close to our hearts, and keep it in the mind each time you fuck/are fucked. but the more dangerous thing is.. "it can only happen to others".

What is more alarming and scary is that: most people with HIV do not know they have it! And then they pass on to others, and so on and so forth!

I always say, always insist on a condom. If there is no condom, then no sex! Do bear in mind that it is not only penetrative sex that can pass on HIV.. sucking someone (who may have HIV but not knowing or deliberately not telling) if you have ulcer in your mouth is just as bad and put you in high risk as well..

International statistics

UK Map
  • The number of new HIV infections has declined globally by 21% since the estimated peak of the epidemic in 1997
  • 2.3 million people were newly infected with HIV worldwide in 2012
  • In some parts of the world (particularly within Sub-Saharan Africa) between 15-28% of the population are living with HIV

People living with HIV globally

  • 35.3 million people living with HIV worldwide
  • 47% of people living with HIV worldwide are women
  • 1.6 million AIDS-related deaths

New HIV cases around the globe in 2012

  • 2.3 million people diagnosed with HIV
  • 6,300 new HIV infections a day
  • 260 000 new HIV infections among children
  • 95% are in low- and middle-income countries

DID YOU KNOW?

People who are on effective HIV treatment, with an undetectable viral load for least six months can not pass the virus on.

Do something for yourself please this World AIDS Day.. Educate yourself, protect yourself and stay safe, play safe =)

I always insist on that whoever is topping puts a condom, so SHOULD you! There is absolutely no compromise about this.

In memory of those who lost the battle against AIDS and in support of those who are living with HIV, for a better and safer world for all of us to have sex :)
