Malaysia Airlines New Excess Baggage Fee Calculator

Effective 20 April 2015, Malaysia Airlines replaces its excess baggage fee structure of regional rates per blocks of 5kg with zonal rates per block of 3kg for all MH operated flights.
Excess baggage rates will be calculated based on zones, depending on the distance flown in one single itinerary. The fee will be calculated for every 3kg in excess of.the Free Baggage Allowance, instead of the previous Skg blocks.
Passengers with tickets issued before 20 April 2015 will be charged based on whichever rate is lower if they are travelling between 20 April 2015 until 20 August 2015.
For Enrich top tiers, the additional checked-in baggage allowance remains the same:
  • Enrich Platinum – allowed 100% additional extra checked-in baggage allowance for respective class of travel. Golfing equipment allowance  of 15kg is in addition to this. No limitations on number of baggage pieces.
  • Enrich Gold – allowed 50% additional extra checked-in baggage allowance for respective class of travel. No limitations on number of baggage pieces.
  • Enrich  Silver- allowed Skg additional checked-in  baggage allowance for respective class of travel. No limitations on number of baggage pieces.

oneworld  members who are not Enrich loyalty customers, the current permitted allowance will be applied:
oneworld Emerald, Sapphire and Ruby members:
  • Two-piece baggage limitation applies to all oneworld members.
  • oneworld Sapphire only: One-piece additional baggage (piece concept) or 15kg (weight concept) for checked baggage allowance travelling on any oneworld partners remains status quo.

Effective 7 Nov, Malaysia Airlines has revised its excess baggage fee.. Not many people will exceed the baggage allowance while holidaying but we never know.. I have the "calculator" that's made available to calculate how much you will need to pay for excess baggage at the airport - or at least expected to pay.

*Note: it is correct as of 7 Nov.

Download the calculator HERE from my Dropbox
The calculator is just a guide and use at your own risk!!
